With yesterday’s closing conference, officially ended the implementation of the project “New Knowledge for Future Profession” financed from the European Social Fund. The lead partner of the project – Open University Pazin with the help of the partners on the project – LAG Central Istria, AZRRI and Iskop company worked on the development of three new educational programs tailored by the specific needs of the regional labor market – training for business management and maintenance of holiday homes, training for the maintenance of gardens and swimming pools and training for specialist in traditional Istrian cuisine. As part of the project to these programs 36 unemployed trainees from all over the Istrian County were educated for free.

In the expert meeting of Istrian preschools held on 11 of October in kindergarten “Tići” from Vrsar organized by the Institute of Public Health of the Istria County, the presidents of the LAGs form the Istria County: Renato Krulčić -LAG”Central Istria”, Anteo Milos-LAG “North Istria”, “Ezio Pinzan-LAG “South Istria”and Mirela Faraguna in the name of the President of LAG “East Istria” Tulio Demetlika signed a Letter of intent on cooperation on the project “Domestic From an Early Age”. In the name of all the LAGs Renato Krulčić and the director of Public Health Institute of the Istrian Region dr. Aleksandar Stojanovic also signed a Business Cooperation Agreement on cooperation on the same project.
The project “Domestic From an Eary Age” will be implemented within the sub-measure 19.3. Rural Development Programme 2014-2020. The project aims to create a model on increasing the consumption of local products in educational institutions (nurseries, kindergartens and primary schools) in the county, and will include analysis of the current supply of agricultural economy from Istria county and current consumption in educational institutions as well as the interest of all parties involved for further steps in achieving the objectives of the project.
The project also planned workshops and educational lectures intended for culinary staff, educators and teachers, children and parents to raise awareness on the benefits of consuming locally grown food.

As part of the project AAA LEADER Joint project in 2016, funded by the Alps-Adriatic Alliance and Koprivnica-Križevci County, LAG Central Istria participated in two-day workshop organized by LAG Podravina which was focused on the development of cooperation between LAGs and creation of joint projects related to the intangible cultural heritage and their role as a tourist product in rural areas.
On this occasion, LAG Central Istria got the chance to present “Pazinski cukerančićć” combined with Istrian Malvasia. Besides the working part, the participants visited some of the most important cultural and historical destinations such as the Church and Museum in Kalinovac, Ethno house Karlovčan – OPG, ethno collection and DIY Ljubica Cestar, Old Town Đurđevac, and were presented with the “Legend of the Roosters” protected as intangible cultural heritage of the region.

On September 9th, at the Porec Open University LAGUR Istrian Solea held the final presentation of project “Sea From a Young Age”. The project is aimed at encouraging the consumption of fresh, local fish and other marine organisms in the educational institutions (nurseries, kindergartens and primary schools) to promote desirable eating habits from an early age.
After the presentation and the premiere of the promotional video that shows the tradition of fishing in the area of LAGUR Istrian Solea , the program continued at the seaside promenade with the presentation of local fish processors (TIC Ltd., Fishermen Cooperative Istria, Bakalar Milena) and local winemakers (Brcic, Bank Damijanić and Ritosa).
The final activity was the panel discussion which was attended by representatives of the Fisheries Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and FLAG representatives which was aimed at sharing experiences in the current preparation of fisheries local development strategies.

As part of the project LAGs4EU from the Europe for Citizens program from 19 to 21 August the project activity in Slovenia, organized by the Development Centre “Heart of Slovenia” based in Litija was held.
LAG “Central Istria” participated in the event together with 30 representatives of the Pazin Association of Pensioners and Pazin Folklore Society the second day of the event taking thus part in the rich program of the visit. On this occasion, the participants took a tour of the source of the river Kamniška Bistrica and were presented with the legacy of shepherds from the area of the “Velika planina” (Big Mountain) and demonstrated with traditional cheese making “Trnič” specific to that place. A good example of governance at the local level with the maximum utilization of locally available natural resources was shown in Terme Snovik. As part of the event, participants were also acquainted with the rich history of the Old town of Kamnik through the guided tour of the city and participated in the final KAMFEST – summer festival in Kamnik, rich in its cultural and artistic program.
This event was held as the last project activity planned for this year, but implementation continues in next spring events in Lithuania and Romania.

LAG “Central Istria” in cooperation with “IstraMet” started a project to install networking and professional agri-meteorological station in the town of Pazin, which will be realized in the next two months.
Meteorological data will be presented in an attractive but simple interface and adapted to the general population. In addition to the basic parameters, data on soil moisture and leaf will be collected and publicly displayed, which will significantly facilitate the implementation of agro-meteorological projects in our area in the future.
On the technical side it is the most modern equipment that will serve farmers throughout central Istria.
The project will be the basis for further development and expansion of the network of specialized agro-meteorological stations, all in order to facilitate the implementation of crop protection, rational irrigation, and finally environmental protection.
The project is implemented with financial support from the County of Istria.

July 12 in Poreč and July 13 in Pazin Fisheries Local Action Group “Istrian Solea” hosted a round table entitled “Sea From a Young Age”.
Round tables were held within the implementation of the project, which is aimed at encouraging the consumption of fresh, local fish and other marine organisms in the educational institutions (nurseries, kindergartens and primary schools) to promote desirable eating habits from an early age.
On that occasion, relevant stakeholders were gathered to share their knowledge and experience that can contribute to the development of a model to introduce fresh, local fish on the menus of educational institutions in the area. Based on the established conclusions that showed that the interest and possibilities for realization of such a project exists, FLAG “Istrian Solea” will form the next steps for the successfull implementation.
Within the project “Sea From a Young Age” further research activities are planned as well as educational classes of culinary staff of educational institutions, publication of promotional cookbooks and final presentation of the project within the Fisheries Festival that will be held in September in Poreč.
5. July, 2016.
The implementation of the project LAGs4EU under the program Europe for Citizens continued with the project activity held in Italy (Caorle) June 15 to 17, organized by LAG Venezia Orientale as the host. Project partners together with representatives of their regions took part in a rich program of presenting the specifics of the region and good practice projects financed from European funds. Special emphasis has been put on the natural resources given that the area is recognizable by its special natural value included in the Natura 2000 network. The next project activity will be held in Poland in late July.

The week of pasta is already in a full swing in Žminj, and the peak of gastronomic delight awaits for us for the weekend when the third edition of the festival of the Istrian pasta will be held in Žminj.
In addition to the rich program of the Festival, for all the insatiable pasta lovers during the month of July there will be held several educational workshops with istrian chefs who will pass their knowledge in making the most delicious Istrian pasta.
