Round Table: Homemade from an Early Age

As part of the traditional event “Days of Honey”, February 24, in Pazin a round table was held as a preliminary activity of the project entitled “Homemade from an early age” which is aimed at increasing the consumption of local products in the kindergardens and primary schools of the Istrian county. The project will be implemented by the local action groups of Istria through the Rural Development Programme (submeasure 19.3.) and with the technical support of the Institute of Public Health of the Istrian County.

The round table was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, regional and local authorities, educational institutions and health services, and local farmers and food producers who have transferred their experiences on the subject and pointed the opportunities and potential obstacles in defining further steps in achieving the goal of the project.

In the next period the start of the implementation of the project is expected which will focus on two main activities of the project: development of a comprehensive study on the possibilities of increasing consumption of local products in educational institutions and training and education for all involved in the process.

Presentation on the Submeasures of the Rural Development Program with special attention to the operation 6.1.1. “Supporting young farmers” and operation 6.3.1. “Supporting the development of small farms” was held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in the Great Hall of Pazin.

The workshop, organized by the Development Agency “Heart of Istria” and LAG “Central Istria” was led by Svetlana Jedriško Kasunić of consulting company CONFIDO ltd and was focused on presenting up to date information on the currently opened calls for proposals and anwsering many question of the potential applicants

Given the turnout and interest in these topics, Development agency “Heart of Istria” and LAG “Central Istria”plan to organize more similar workshops regarding the Rural Development Program in the future.
